Teacher Setup Guide

Get your class playing Edumon in a few minutes — no installs, no student accounts.

What you need: a modern browser (Chromebooks are fine), a license key from your subscription, and two domains allowed on filtered networks: edumongame.com and pygame-web.github.io.

1. Start a plan (includes a free 1-week trial)

Pick the plan that matches your group:

After checkout, Gumroad emails your license key. Keep that email — you and your students will use the key to unlock the full game.

2. Unlock on your teacher device first

Open edumongame.com/play.html (or use edumongame.com and enter your key there).
Choose I already have a license key (or open License in the corner).
Paste the key from your Gumroad receipt and tap Unlock.

The full curriculum unlocks on that browser. You can also copy a class link after unlock — students who open that link get the key applied automatically.

3. Share with your class

Option A — Class link (easiest)

After you unlock, use Copy class link. Share that link in Google Classroom, Canvas, or your LMS. Each student opens it once on their device; the game stores the license in that browser.

Option B — Students type the key

Post the license key for your class. Students go to play.html, choose I already have a license key, enter the key, and unlock.

Important — do not clear browser data on licensed devices.

The license is saved in the browser on each device. Clearing cache, cookies, or site data for edumongame.com deletes the saved license from that device. The student must enter the key again, and re-entering uses another device seat on your plan. Your Gumroad purchase is not cancelled — only that device’s unlock is lost.

Ask IT and students: do not “clear browsing data” for this site during the school year. Stick to one browser per student device.

4. Device limits

Classroom / Family: up to 35 devices
School: up to 450 devices

Each browser that successfully unlocks counts as one device. Need a few more seats on the same license key (without buying a whole second plan)? Contact us with your license key and how many extra devices you need — we can raise the device limit on your existing key.

Allow edumongame.com
Allow pygame-web.github.io (game engine)
Prefer Chrome or Edge on managed Chromebooks
Disable “clear data on exit” policies for this site if possible

6. In class — first session tips

Have students unlock before the lesson so key entry is not rushed.
Use headphones if your room allows — music and cues help immersion.
Progress is saved in that browser; switching browsers or clearing data starts fresh.
You can load custom question packs from the in-game Question Packs menu once unlocked.
Print free sampler exit tickets, worksheets, and station cards, or build custom packs in Teacher Hub Print & Build (no student accounts).
Push a class pack and filters from Class curriculum. Students can open Teacher report from the in-game pause menu (Escape) to copy an anonymous progress share code.
Moving a device? Use Advanced tools to transfer the shared classroom save to a replacement device, or generate a one-click class link.
