Edumon: The Archivist's Journey · Effective July 2026

Edumon was built for classrooms, so it is designed to collect as little information as possible. In short: no student accounts, no advertising, no trackers, and no personal information collected from student players. Adult teachers (or parents who purchase) may optionally sign in to the Teacher Hub with an email address — see below.

Information we do not collect

The game does not ask for and does not collect names, email addresses, usernames, photographs, locations, contact lists, or any other personal information from students / players. There are no student accounts and no chat or messaging features. We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics trackers on this site.

Teacher Hub email (adults only)

Teachers and parent purchasers may sign in to the optional Teacher Hub with an email address. We use that email only to send a one-time sign-in link and to associate Hub settings (such as a linked class license key and question-pack drafts you create) with your teacher account. Students are never asked for an email and cannot create Hub accounts. You can stop using the Hub at any time; signing out ends the browser session.

Information stored on the device

The game runs entirely in the web browser. Nothing described in this section is sent to us; it is written to the browser's own storage on that device so a student can close the tab and carry on later. Edumon stores:

Because all of it lives in browser storage, it is per-browser and per-device: a student who moves to a different computer starts fresh, and there is no cloud sync. Clearing the browser’s cache, cookies, or site data erases the saved games and the saved license from that device. Access is lost until the key is entered again, and re-entering counts as a new device on the plan.

Information processed to unlock content

When a license key is entered, the browser sends the key and the random device identifier to our license server so it can confirm the key is valid and count the number of devices using it (Classroom/Family licenses cover up to 35 devices; School licenses cover up to 450). For keys issued by Gumroad, the license server may also confirm with Gumroad that the purchase is still valid (including whether a yearly subscription remains active). The license server stores the key's usage count and the random device identifiers associated with it. These identifiers cannot be used to identify a student.

Ordinary web server records

Like essentially every website, the services that deliver the game (Cloudflare, which hosts this site and the license service, and GitHub Pages, which serves the game's runtime engine) receive standard technical request data such as IP addresses in the ordinary course of serving web content, subject to those providers' own privacy practices. We do not use this data to identify players.

Children's privacy

Edumon is intended for classroom use by students, including children under 13. Because the game collects no personal information from any player, it is designed to be used consistent with the principles of COPPA (the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and with school privacy obligations under FERPA. Edumon creates no student records and receives no student roster information.

Purchases

Licenses are sold through Gumroad (Classroom/Family yearly, School yearly). Purchases are handled by that platform under its own terms and privacy policy; this site never sees payment information. Gumroad may process purchaser email and payment details to deliver your license key and manage subscriptions.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Questions are welcome — Contact us or use our Gumroad store pages linked above.

This policy describes the Edumon web game at this site. It does not cover Gumroad or other third-party sites linked from here.
